Their Island

This work was inspired by the pixel art of old browser games and my desire to create something both detailed and in color. The first simple sketch I made for a mountain immediately struck a chord with me, so I used it as a blueprint for the entire project.

Since the design came to me quite spontaneously, there isn’t really an intended metaphor or deeper meaning behind the piece, but I still hope that it may speak to someone in a meaningful way.

I’m really happy with how the colors turned out, the amount of effort I was able to put into this project and how I was able to use the things I’ve learnt over this year to make this semi-surreal blocky landscape come to life.
